Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial gets underway at this morning in the Senate chamber of the Texas Capitol. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick will preside as judge. Senators will serve as jurors as they consider 16 of the 20 articles of impeachment. The Senate earlier voted to delay consideration of the other four. The charges against Paxton include bribery and abuse of authority. Paxton or his lawyer will plead guilty or not guilty to each of the 16 articles as the court clerk reads them aloud. Paxton's wife, Senator Angela Paxton, is required to attend but is not allowed to participate.
