Texas lawmakers return to the Capitol today to try once again to reach an agreement on how to deliver property tax relief to Texans. Republican state leaders are split over two competing plans, with the House preferring a compressed tax rate, and the Senate in favor of raising the homestead exemption. Legislators failed to craft a bill during the regular session or the first special session Gov. Greg Abbott called in May. Abbott then called a second special session, which started in the last week of June.
