The latest campaign finance reports filed Monday say Gov. Greg Abbott had a fundraising edge over Beto O'Rourke in the first 20 days of January. The nearly three-week span covered the first full reporting period in which both men were candidates for governor of Texas. Abbott reported raising 1.4 million dollars, a smidge more than O'Rourke's 1.3 million. Abbott, the GOP incumbent, has more than 62-million campaign dollars in the bank, while O'Rourke, the Democratic challenger, has only six-million.
