HEB CEO Urges Abbott To Release Federal Funds To Texas Schools

The chairman and CEO of HEB is urging Gov. Greg Abbott to release federal funds to Texas school districts as soon as possible. Charles Butt, head of the San Antonio-based grocery giant, sent Abbott a letter on Tuesday. Congress has approved two coronavirus aid bills this year that include 18-billion-dollars in funding for Texas schools. So far state lawmakers have left the money out of preliminary drafts of the state budget. They say they're still figuring out how it's supposed to be used, based on federal guidelines.
