Suspects Identified In Shooting Of Balcones Heights Police Officer

Two brothers are wanted in connection with the shooting of a Balcones Heights police officer.  Wilifredo and Sijifredo Montemayor have been on the run since yesterday's shooting at an apartment complex.

Bexar County Sheriff's Javier Salazar says the pair have connections in the Rio Grande Valley and think it's possible they may try to flee to Mexico.

Sgt. Joey Sepulveda was shot while investigating suspicious people at the SOL Apartments near the I-10 and 410 Interchange.

Multiple gunshots were fired at the officer who was wounded in the neck, shoulder and arm.

Salazar credited a second officer with saving the sergeant's life by getting him to a hospital.

Sgt. Sepulveda, is hospitalized after undergoing surgery last night for multiple gunshot wounds. He has been with the Balcones Heights Police Department for 18 years.

Balcones Heights Mayor Suzanne de Leon asked for prayers. "The family, his family, our city family, asks for all of your prayers and support that the sergeant will recover quickly and the people that made this happen will be caught quickly."
