Baptist Health System Treats Coronavirus Patients With Remdesivir

Hospitals in San Antonio's Baptist Health System are treating coronavirus patients with remdesivir, an antiviral drug. A spokesperson for the system says 21 patients have been treated with the drug so far. The system has received 260 vials of the drug from University Health System and the Department of State Health Services. The state agency is distributing 125 cases of the drug to 85 hospitals across 34 Texas counties. Dr. Duane Hospenthal, Baptist Health director of infection control, says it's too soon to measure the drug's effects.
