Four Fires Keep Firefighters Busy Overnight

Local firefighters were kept busy by a series of fires overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The first was a fire that damaged a home on Senisa Dr., which is off Donaldson on the near northwest side.

Police said a father had left to run an errand, leaving two young children alone when the fire broke out.  They got out okay, and firefighters were able to contain the fire.

Several hours later, a fire broke out at a home on Rosewood, which is south of Hildebrand just off I-10.

Firefighters say the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and their effort was further hindered by the fact that the small frame house was stranding on cinder blocks, which made the structure unstable

.Nobody was home at the time and nobody was hurt.  The remains of the home will be demolished, and arson investigators have been called in.

About 5AM, firefighters scrambled to an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Oakdale.  That is near the I-10 Loop 410 interchange on the northwest side.

Several apartments had to be evacuated due to smoke, but nobody was hurt.  Fire crews say this fire does not appear to be suspicious.  They say it started in a bathroom exhaust fan.

The fourth fire caused significant damage to a home on Hammond St, on the east side.  That fire is believed to have started in attic insulation.
