Police Deal With Rowdy Onlookers Investigating an East Side Shooting

Police officers investigating a shooting just east of downtown early today also had to deal with rowdy onlookers, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say a man in his thirties who may be homeless was sitting on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of East Commerce when a man walked past him, then turned around, pulled a handgun, and shot him.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.But while officers were investigating, bystanders started giving the officers a rough time.  One man got into an officer's face and had to be arrested for interfering with the investigation.

The shooter ran away and remains at large.  No word on a possible motive, detectives it may have simply been a random shooting.
