New USAF Unit to Extend San Antonio's Growing Cyber Security Industry

San Antonio's booming cyber security industry takes a giant step today as it stands up its first Reserve cyberspace operations organization.The 960th Cyberspace Operations Group's mission:  to 'train and equip Reserve Citizen Airmen to extend, operate, defend and engage to fight and win a war in, from and through cyberspace,' News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

'The 960th will be a tenant of the 433rd Airlift Wing, and will report to the 10th Air Force.The mission will include combat communications, command and control of defensive cyber-operations, response actions, Continental United States wide communication infrastructure management, cyber defense analysis, and network operations.

The new unit increases San Antonio's leadership role in the fast growing and increasingly critical cyber security industry.San Antonio is now home to the second largest number of cyber security professions, military and civilian, in the country, behind only metro Washington DC.
