Guard Opens Fire on Suspected Dope Dealers at N.E. Side Apartment

A security guard at a north east side apartment complex opened fire this morning on a car being driven by suspects in a drug deal, police tell News Radio 1200 WOAI.

Officers were called about 1AM to the Oaks Spring Apartments in the 3900 block of Perrin-Central when he saw a group of men in the parking lot.

When he got out of his vehicle, he realized that it was a drug deal underway.

The four men jumped into a black car and tried to run the man over.  He responded by firing several shots at the car, hitting it multiple times.

A DPS helicopter was called, and after a brief chase spotted the vehicle with its spotlight at Broadway and Lovelace, which is outside Loop 410.

When the four men saw the spotlight, they stopped the car and jumped out.Police caught three of them, and a fourth remains at large.

The security guard was not hurt when he was clipped by the speeding car.
