Why Can't We Remember--Don't Take Your Gun to the Airport!

Try as we might, we can't seem to get it through our heads that we are not supposed to bring guns onto airplanes, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"In 2017, TSA found 55 firearms at San Antonio International Airport checkpoints," Carrie Harmon of the TSA told News Radio 1200 WOAI.  "The prior year we found 57."

She says the weapons are generally found in passengers' carry-on luggage, and the overwhelming excuse, of course, is 'I forgot it was in there.'

"We didn't have an increase last year in San Antonio, but still, that's too many firearms being brought to airport checkpoints."

She says SAPD are called with firearms are discovered in bags at checkpoints, which means the passenger misses or her flights, and frequently misses a lot more.

The average civil penalty for showing up at a TSA checkpoint with a gun in your bag is $3900.
