Bexar County Deputy Shoots Teen in West Bexar County Confrontation

A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy shot and critically wounded a 17 year old on a west Bexar County street early today, after the teenager allegedly attempted to run down the deputy following a road rage incident, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Sheriff Javier Salazar says it started with a report of a road rage incident near Marbach and Loop 1604.

"A couple of deputies were flagged down by a motorist who told them they had been involved in a road rage incident," Salazar said.

"They caught up with that vehicle a short distance away, and the suspect vehicle turned and struck the Sheriff's vehicle, disabling the vehicle and physically hit the officer at the scene," he said.

He said the deputy then pulled his weapon and fired several shots into the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was finally stopped following another accident nearby.

Salazar says the deputy was not serious hurt.

The driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with several gunshot wounds.  There was a female passenger in the car, also 17, and she is hospitalized with minor injuries.

Salazar says if the teen survives, he will face serious felony charges, including possibly attempted capital murder.
