California Wine Country Insured Fire Losses Could Hit $3 Billion

Losses from the firestorm that swept over Northern California's wine country this month could hit $3 billion.  The fires that killed more than 40 people destroyed more than 8,000 homes and businesses.  A report released yesterday says that could lead to insurance payouts of $2 billion to $3 billion dollars.  The report says most of the money will be paid to homeowners.  The fires turned entire neighborhoods in the city of Santa Rosa into ashes.

The blazes scorched more than 380 square miles across several counties north of San Francisco.
