San Antonio Gas Prices Continue to Fall--Slowly

US Gas Prices Rise For 35 Consecutive Days

The price of gas continues to fall in San Antonio after the spike caused by Hurricane Harvey and the 'Gas Panic' that followed, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The average price in San Antonio today is down to $2.36, according to AAA Texas, that's down 6 cents in the past week.

"Gulf Coast refineries are making progress building toward resuming normal operations, but it could take some longer than others to return to pre-hurricane production rates. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that Gulf Coast capacity utilization rates are up since last week. As utilization rates increase and operations improve, gas prices will drop," Sarah Schimmer of AAA Texas said.

AAA Texas expects that, unless additional tropical systems disrupt the Texas Gulf Coast refining network, and the system in the Gulf now is expected to come ashore to the east of refinery-heavy Texas and Louisiana, prices should continue slowly but steadily drop in the coming months.

San Antonians are paying 41 cents a gallon more today that we paid on October 5 or last year.
