Sheriff's detectives are investigating the shooting of a man on the northeast side early Saturday, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The incident happened about 3:30 AM on Glen Bay St, which is near Gibbs-Sprawl and Walzem.
When deputies arrived they found a man sprawled on the ground in front of the home.. He had been shot multiple times.
Police say the homeowner told them he shot the man, who he said was attempting to burglarize his home.. He said he 'heard noises' and opened fire from inside the home.
Detectives are trying to confirm the homeowner's story, and no charges have been filed.
The man who was shot, described as in his early thirties, is in critical condition at SAMMC.
