SAPD Officer Facing DWI Charge

A San Antonio Police Officer finds himself on the wrong side of the law, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The officer was off duty Friday morning when he allegedly slammed his personal car into a marked Kirby Police vehicle on FM 78.

The Kirby officer was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. Officials say he had pulled over a car  and was writing a ticket when the off duty SAPD officer's private vehicle hit the rear of the SUV.

Bexar County Magistrate records say Armando Alvardo, 40, was booked on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

He is expected to be placed on administrative leave.
