NCAA Bypasses Bathroom Debate, Awards 2022 Regional Tournament to San Antonio

Bathroom bill or no bathroom bill, the NCAA has awarded a Men's March Madness Regional for 2022, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The announcement comes as the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee is making preparations for the final Four in March of 2018.

“Today’s announcement represents another opportunity for us to showcase San Antonio as a leading destination for hosting premier sporting events.  The NCAA, including its coaches, players and fans will experience the excitement of March Madness in one of the truly authentic and unique cities in the world,” said Casandra Matej, President & CEO of Visit San Antonio.

This will be the eleventh NCAA Men's March Madness Regional or Final event held in San Antonio since 1997, and this one will have something new

.Rather than being held at the Alamodome, where all of the other events have taken place and where the 2018 Final Four will be staged, the 2022 Regional will take place at the AT&T Center.
